Spring cleanups are vital to your lawn’s initial startup. Ignoring leaves that may have have fallen late the previous fall often cause dead spots that will be very noticeable and difficult to grow back naturally as summer approaches. Another contributing factor to a lawn’s startup is the thatching that lies under your grass but found on top of your soil. We use large rakes attached to our mowers designed for loosening the soil surface to break-up and expose the thatching. This is then collected by our commercial-grade equipment and is hauled away from your property for disposal.

Benefits of dethatching your lawn

One great benefit of dethatching is achieving a greener lawn earlier in the season. By removing the thatch, the sun and water can more easily reach the soil to increase ground temperature and provide nutrition previously used up by the grass in the fall. In addition, this wakes up dormant microorganisms allowing them to get a jump start creating good nutrients for the grass plant.

Voles and Moles

Many homeowners will notice little tunnels and lines in their grass after snow has melted. These are more common under piles of snow from driveways, roadways, sidewalks and other areas that have been cleared regularly during the winter. These lines and tunnels are commonly caused by Voles and/or Moles. They use the snow as insulation and will tunnel through your sod using the ground temperature to keep warm. Dethatching these areas will break-up their tunnels and deter the critters from sheltering under your lawn. After dethatching, these areas will typically regrow with a little help and nurturing.

Have a beautiful lawn

Once all of the lawn and landscape areas have been raked and vacuumed, we  load the waste onto our trucks and dispose of it at a local composting site leaving you with a beautifully cleaned yard that is fully prepped for it’s growing season. Our professional staff is always happy to answer any questions you may have and provide you with a quote for your spring cleanup.

Fall Landscape Cleanups

Filling bags and bags of leaves? Getting tired of spending countless hours raking, stacking and chasing leaves around your yard with a small leaf blower? Then Doehling Landscape Services is your “one-stop shop” for all fall cleanup needs. We use quality commercial-grade equipment that aids us in getting the job done right the first time in a timely manner. Leaf and debris removal, lawn and landscape cleaning, shrub trimming, and irrigation blowouts are just some of the many services we provide.

No one wants to spend their busy days raking and bagging leaves as it can often turn into a month-long battle. Unfortunately, leaves will not disappear on their own and understanding why to address their removal is important. Leaving leaf piles for spring can have negative effects on your turf quality once the snow melts. Leaves will hold moisture and block the sun from reaching the grass plant causing it to die. The result is often a dead spot in your lawn that can be costly to repair.

What lives in these lawn dead spots?

Rodents such as Voles and Moles like to use leaf piles as hibernation dens and snow cover as insulation. These critters are responsible for tunnels you may find in the sod once the snow melts. By removing the leaves from your lawn, you reduce the chance of having a rodent issue and other potentially costly turf repairs.

Years of lawn cleanup experience

The professionals at Doehling Landscape Services have many years of experience handling fall cleanups. We remove all leaves from the landscape areas and mulch beds, vacuum up the leaves and haul them away on our trucks. We dispose of all lawn and landscape debris at a local composting facility where it is recycled into compost dirt or chips.

Plant care and trimming your landscape

Shrub trimming is also available to our clients during the fall. Trimming shrubs on a regular basis will help them fill out and shape nicely. If a shrub is left untrimmed for long period of time it can start to overgrow itself and cause damage to others that surround it. Shrub trimming is typically done at the same time as the fall cleanup to make it more convenient for our clients.

Aerate your lawn

Aerating is another very valuable service that will help the overall health of your lawn. By breaking up compacted areas used throughout the warmer season, the soil is given an opportunity to be oxygenated and increase root growth.

Don’t waste your time worrying about yard work or chasing leaves around! Relax in knowing that Doehling Landscape Services will take care of all your spring & fall lawn cleanups. Give us a call or contact us online by submitting an inquiry from our website. We are more than happy to answer any questions you may have and/or give you a free estimate for your property.
